St. Pete used to be a city that was bustling with life and fashion and energy. Ocean Drive, once thriving, is now vacant. The architecture seems aged; hundreds of small independently owned shops are closed. They wait with sad windows to be reclaimed and brought back to life. A part of me wanted to narrate the emptiness of the city, it's historic splendor. "The street cleaner" (dark here, I need to dodge and print much larger) is an illustration of those facets, and I am very interested in what his character symbolizes. That's all I'm going to say for now. Hah, comments and critiques greatly appreciated.

"Fat Lady"

"Hierarchy"

"Overgrowth"

"The Street Cleaner"
In the sense of a narrative, Hierarchy has the most appeal. The visual elements are arranged nicely, great use of shadow, and I enjoy that the tilt of the frame matches the tilt of the subject's head. Overgrowth reminds me of Edward Steichen's flat iron photo. Is the title Hierarchy a clue to the narrative?
ReplyDeleteYes it is.. and that's great news because that is the piece I'd like to finalize and bring to critique!
